The time to enter a donation with each product was tested in a sample church setting, by selecting the approprate option to start entering donations then, entering 20 donations (using a donor's envelope #) in the following random order: envelope # 10 gave 25.00 to the General Fund envelope # 30 gave 20.00 to the General Fund envelope # 5 gave 50.00 to the General Fund envelope # 25 gave 40.00 to the General Fund and 40.00 to the Building Fund envelope # 16 gave 100.00 to the General Fund The above pattern was then repeated for envelope #'s: 11, 31, 6, 26, 17, 12, 32, 7, 27, 18, 13, 33, 8, 28 & 19 then the donations were saved. The method of payment (cash, check, credit card, etc.) was not specified for each donation. The sequential order test was done by first sorting the envelope #'s in increasing order. Only 20 donors, having the above envelope #'s, were entered into the database. It was assumed that each of the following actions take one second: • pressing a key on the keyboard • moving your hand from the mouse to the keyboard • moving your hand from the keyboard to the mouse • clicking a button on the mouse The total time taken was then divided by the number of donations (i.e. 20) to get an average time. These times are given as a comparison only. They will vary depending on your experience and the actual donations to be entered. |
